I have a pedometer on my phone, and it keeps giving me distances that I know are incorrect, because it’s measuring my stride based on generic information. Though I’ve never cared to accurately measure my running distance before (I always go by time and “feel”), now that I have a phone that measures distance, it’s bugging me how off that measurement is.
What should I use to calculate this distance? I don’t want to go find a running track to do this; I’d rather just use something in the neighborhood. What are some standard distances “out there?”

Last week I finally gave up on my cheap and unreliable Muji pedometer and invested in a new fancy Omron Walking Style II, which is supposed to be one of the more accurate pedometers on the market. Before you start using it, you’re supposed to measure and input your own “stride length”, which the instructions define as the distance (in metres) you can walk 10 steps, divided by 10.
I’ve just had five attempts walking up and down the office (drawing some very strange looks from my co-workers) and each time my 10 steps has taken me a different distance. There’s over a metre difference between the shortest and longest walks!
How can I accurately measure my stride length if it’s so variable?

i dont get it! it says to take ten steps and then add up all the inches you walked and the divide it by 10 but you have to measure heel to heel or toe toe but i rly dont get it cuz im stupid. XD

my pedometer alwaya gives reading 30 inches.,even when it’s not in use.The other day i walked, and it gave me reading,30 in. 1521steps ande .71 mile .I could’nt figure it out what is my stride length(because it remains the same in the pedo.).And how would i know how much i walked?
