I’ve started using a pedometer at work. I’ve measured each stride length as 10 inches. [Yes, I'm short!]
What I would like to find is an easy way to calculate number of miles that I’ve walked based on the number of steps I have taken that day .
Let’s just say for example that yesterday, I walked 12,763 steps and I wanted to know how many miles I’ve walked.
It seems pretty complicated because there are 12 inches to a foot and 5,280 feet to a mile and 36 inches to a yard and 1,760 yards to a mile. Every time I try and sit down to do the math, it gets confusing.
Is there an easy way to do this?

How many steps should I be taking a day. I have a pedometer. I’m a 20 year old girl and I weight 170. I’m over weight. I want to start loosing 4-5 pounds a week. I have no problem excersizing just lazy to do it. I have the pedometer and love watching the numbers go up.
So to all you experts out there how many steps/miles do i have to walk a week to lose 5 pounds a week? if I’m only taking in 1200 calories a day. And riding a stationary bike for an hour 4 days a week…
Please help!

Like we look after our bodys we exercise eat well ect?

are you supposed to walk the 10,000 steps all at once, what i mean is if i go out to walk in the morning am i supposed to walk the entire 10,000 steps at that moment or can i like walk half in the morning and half in the afternoon? i am going to purchase a pedometer today and i am just curious as to how this works, also does it matter what time in the day i decide to walk? also has anyone had any success in losing weight with this method?? please do tell..

I have no pedometer – what is the average number of steps per day without adding extra walking. I am guessing 1500 to 2000 and then supplementing – I am somewhat but not unusually active at home and around town.. in Thailand. cannot find a pedometer for sale.
