I don’t wear/hate wearing a watch, and I only have a tiny one with a face on it so it’s near impossible to know when I’ve ran for a minute and it’s time to switch to walking again. Is there some sort of a gadget that would beep for me? Like, that I could set to beep in 1.5 minutes and then in .5 minutes and then in 1.5 minutes again? Or how do people do this sort of thing? I don’t want to have to look down at a watch all the time. I wear a pedometer, and that helps me keep track of things a little. I don’t want to be limited to running on a tredmill because I don’t have access to it on weekends.
My husband and kids are getting me a new pair of runners and an ipod/nike pedometer. (I have heard it is good)
I haven’t really done any physical activity in years but I would like to start getting into shape by running. I would eventually like to do 5km in under a half hour. We have a track right by our house that is 400m obviously it is rubber so I don’t think it will be to hard on the joints. But the last time I jogged I was so out of breath so fast. I have since got a couple inhalers. But any tips on starting out. Should I just start out with one lap or do one Km or should I go 5km right off the bat. And any tips on breathing???
So I’m a beginning runner trying to train for a 5K. I’ve done a lot of research on creating a training plan etc. and I’m not looking for advice on that front. What I do need help with is keeping track of my time.
I hate wearing a watch because I have very sensitive skin on my wrist and in the past I have had horrible outbreaks of eczema and watches have given me extreme heat rashes.
I’m wondering if there is another way to keep track of time, maybe a running play-list that changes song every minute or beeps every minute. Maybe a pedometer that also has a stop watch – ideally one that attaches at the waist.
Suggestions?
Hello!
I am doing a preliminary investigation on the effect of music on physical performance in running. I was wondering if anyone wanted to be a part of my study. All I need is for you to clock your time, distance, and steps taken with a pedometer while you run without music. Then- I will compile a playlist for you to run to a week later and we’ll get the same stats… then- if there’s time you’ll compile your own playlist to run to and we’ll check those stats…
Any takers?
I want to start running for heart health and to lose weight. I am a beginner and was wondering what is a good way to start?
Slow? How much at first? And how to keep motivated?
Thanks for any advice you may have.
