I’ve just graduated with a B.S. in Health and Exercise Science from the College of New Jersey and will be applying to PT school in a couple months. My major GPA is a 3.75, cumulative is 3.24. I have done a 500 hour internship in an orthopedic physical therapy setting and also worked as an aide during that time. I am also a certified EMT-Basic.
I have done just fine with all the courses related to health and exercise science but had real trouble with chemistry and physics. My question, then, is how challenging would someone consider physical therapy school to be for me?
A second question is whether PT students often have part time jobs in addition to classes or if classes and studying take up so much time that a part time job isn’t really possible?
I was checking the health category for men to see the type of questions being asked. Most of them seem to be concerned with issues of sexual function and very few express any other theme. I did see one where a man wanted to know what areas should be covered in a physical exam (maybe he’s eighty and well past caring about sex lol lol, JUST KIDDING!). I’ve noticed that the men who I care about most; my fiance, father, younger brother, and two grandfathers all rely on the important women in their life to manage their health needs. For example, my father is a real baby when it comes to doctors and needs my mother to accompany him to doctor’s appointments when she can manage to convince him to go. When he gets a cold he lies in bed helpless as a baby. My fiance has a healthy lifestyle (thanks to his mom) including frequent exercise, lots of sleep (he sleeps like a log), @ a good diet. His mom tells me that she doesnt dare trust him to see a doctor by himself because he says all fine.
Well I am looking for yet another way to exercise and diet and was told about Pilates and Yoga and decided to try them both but I didn’t know much about it and per research didn’t tell much. If you have done either of the two please let me know tips, advice, etc..Thanks!!!
I am obese and has never been into sports….okay, not even exercising. But I do not want to make the same mistake with my daughter who is currently 15 months old. Can anyone suggest me what kind of sports, exercising facilities, diet etc. should I give her, so that she can remain as flexible and well-coordinated as a gymnast, so that if she wants she can take any sports as a career or at least does not lose her self-confidence and health like me.
I went to my local sports center and they said that I should wait for five to six years for any formal training and let my daughter play as she likes. I would like your advice on the subject too. Can anyone tell me what is the youngest age these sports persons start and whether it is a help or a hindrance? I like gymnastics but any sport that can keep her fit and fine is fine enough for me too.
Daily or weekly. Please don’t be smart and say ‘exercise and eat right’ or anything so obvious, just some tips please!
