I am 16, 5 10 and 180 pounds. And i exercise moderately (Over weight)
I have been eating health and exercising for months( i don’t remember how many). I have lost 20 pounds to get to 180. However, now that i am aware of what i eat, i have cut many unhealthy foods from my life and i feel that my body just doesn’t need as much to be full. I am now concerned about my caloric intake because i don’t meet it and i really don’t want to push more food in my body when i feel i don’t need it. Please give me good advice, i don’t need websites to find out my required intake. I would be really nice if a experienced person answers this question. So do i really have to meet the requirment and i don’t want to screw up my metabolism.
I’m tired of doctors prescribing medicine for everything. A little headache: Take these pills. Stomach ache: take this medicine.
Heck, i had a serios mysteerious ache in the stomach, and it was so bad i was in terrible pain for 8 months.. They gave me medicine and i didn’t even take it, i used herbals and was patient and positive and i healed.
Doctors don’t prescribe any natural remedies except for the well known ORANGE juice for colds. They need to appraoch ALL illnesses with NATURAL cures. For example, If you say you’re DEPRESSED, they immediately suggest medication. Why? Why not suggest meditation and mental exercises.
Okay so I bike ride around my neighborhood regularly. My neighborhood has a LOT of hills so it is a bit of a work out. This week I had a lot of time on my hands so I decided to walk the way I usually ride. My pedometer read about 6.5 miles. It took me about 2 hours to conquer versus about 30 minutes on the bike. Since the walking is a lower endurance did I burn less calories? Or was it balanced out because I was active longer walking then biking? Also, my calves are really sore after walking that route twice this week and that never happens when I bike.
my pedometer or mapmyrun.com? Because my pedometer says that the distance I run is only .6 of a mile, while mapmyrun.com says that the same distance is .94 of a mile.
here’s my take.
If you eat before, you’ll have calories in your blood sugar ready to work. You work off your meal basically. You also risk cramps if you workout too soon. Cramps can kill a workout.
If you eat after, you’ll use more stored calories (body fat), and the proteins you eat after have much better chance of being absorbed by your sore muscles. The downside being that you need to push yourself harder because you don’t have that “ready energy” already in your blood stream.
Personally – I eat a little before. You need SOME energy at the ready. You cant do it all with body fat. I like a low-fat yogurt and a banana. That’s plenty carbs and protein for me pre-workout, and it doesn’t cause cramping. After, I drink whey protein drinks as they metabolize the nutrients almost immediately where food takes a few hours.
