There is a running trial next to my school called the “puke trial”. I know the 2 mile mark so I’ve been able to run 2 miles to and from that location for a 4mile run. I want to run 6 miles today but I don’t know how to measure 6 miles unless I get a ruler and tediously match the key up to the winding, curving trial. I do have a pedometer but it doesn’t work, I know this because after I ran 4 miles it said I only ran .85 miles (this thing is so cheap!). Is there any kind of map that lets you place many points on it and then it measures the distance between each point and tells you how far it is?

Pedometers arent an option since they only work if you run at a consistent pace and consistent stride length and they end up changing when i get tired.

regular pedometers won’t work – they count how many times you hit the ground and multiply that by your stride. Plus, they aren’t waterproof. You could get a water proof gps machine, they would work. But the best idea would be to count your laps and multiply them by the length of the pool. Some places have guides up on the wall telling you how far a mile is etc. If not, ask the lifeguards, they usually know. Most pools are 25 yards, meaning that you need to do 72 lengths of the pool to get a mile in. Some are 25 meters meaning that you need to do 64 lengths to get a mile in. If counting is hard (it can be very boring) break your workout into smaller routines that are easier to count. Maybe do 2 crawls then 1 breaststroke? Maybe break your routine up into quarter miles (18 lengths) or something else that’s easier on you. Another thing you could do would be to time a couple of lengths and then multiply that by how many minutes you swim. It would only be an estimate, but it might be pretty close depending on how tired you get.
