we live in philadelphia northeast section. he is a little over weight. he is willing to exercise and smokes occasionally. we know he has to quit smoking altogether. My main concern is his health coverage. does anyone has any advice for us?

My family just went through a nasty divorce in all of the mess my father dumbly decided to cancel our health insurance. Well it bit him in the @$$, my 17 year old sister was just diagnosed with cervical cancer. I am now on the hunt for health insurance. Im 19 and in good health … exercise, eat right, good weight…ext (so was my sister … so i don’t want to risk anything) Any ideas … good plans. I would honestly be more willing to pay more if i didn’t have to pay hospital, doctor visits.

I’m trying to find a health insurance plan made for someone like me- 26, male, non-smoker,non-drinker, currently at ideal weight, regularly exercises, no health conditions, no prescriptions, etc. I mostly want something that’ll cover check-ups with maybe a small co-pay, and then has a high deductable for a broken bone/ sports injury etc. Everything available at my job seems to cater to the chronically ill/ older/ heavy prescription user. private plans are to much per month. This is why I decline medical benefits, year after year! I know any of these plans would be helpful in the case of serious injury- just in case. But none seems to offer any tangible benefits like, I don’t know, 2 doctor visits a year? Every plan requires that I exhaust my deductable first- I’ll never spend 250-1000 a year for doctors visits!
I’m guessing, based on cost that a high deductable plan is best for my broken bone scenario- but how can then screw me out of seeing a doctor just to get a check up?

I just graduated college and my insurance ran out. I am taking a job that starts in September and will give me full health coverage 1 month after I start. I am a young and fairly healthy female, although I do have IBS and some other problems, mostly relating to the digestive system, reproductive system, and my skin. I eat a balanced diet and try to exercise regularly. I have only needed to visit the emergency room 3 times in my entire life.
When responding, please give me an informed answer, not just yes or no. Please also explain your reasoning.
Also, other than Aetna or Cobra, is there any other short-term insurance I can purchase?
Doctor’s answers especially welcome.
Thank you!

Should I spend more and on organic foods, and exercise to prevent diseases?
