Actually, I did home health care for years and the best method I ever learned for transfers was the technique I learned at Valley Med in San Jose, California.
It doesn’t take a lot of exercising.
What you do is:
Put the patient’s feet on the floor
Put your knees on outside the patient’s knees
Squat and put your head at the patient’s waist, reaching around behind their butt and joining your hands.
Rock back a little so they fall forward over your shoulder
Pivot their butt into the chair
Rock forward so they lean back into the chair
Simple. No pulled muscles.

Watching these town hall debates today, it’s apparent to me that Americans would rather rake their elected officials over the coals about these proposed healthcare reforms instead of addressing the problems with the American diet and lifestyle.
Too many Americans eat fatty, preservative-laden foods and don’t get enough exercise. Too many Americans drive a 1/4 mile to buy a gallon of milk or to buy a lottery ticket. No wonder America leads the world in heart attacks.
Japan, for example, relies on a diet high in fish and rice and yet only accounts for 9% of the world’s total pharmaceutical drug use (the US and Canada alone account for half).
Another question is, will the drug companies allow it? Don’t the drug manufacturers want Americans to continue eating their McDonalds, KFC and Hot Pockets at every meal?

I cant exercise cuz I am bed ridden cuz my health. That made me gain 15 pounds over the last 3 months. I need to get rid of it!

I have recently had some health concerns that I went to the doctor for. I was frustrated before I even went because I just knew that instead of them really trying to figure out what was wrong with me they would just say exercise and eat healthy. Exercise and eat healthy! Yes those things are very very important but sometimes we really do have a problem that needs attention. Does anyone else feel this way?

My husband’s health become worst and worst because of lack of exercise and sleep. His previous boss passed away in late 30s or early 40s leaving behind young kids and a young wife. How can I help to let him pay attention to exercise & sleep? He keep working in front of computer after work till mid-night everyday. His health has a lot of warning sign but he still unable to get himself to do regular exercise or sleep early. What shall I do? The computer steal away my husband’s health!
