I have a pedometer on my phone, and it keeps giving me distances that I know are incorrect, because it’s measuring my stride based on generic information. Though I’ve never cared to accurately measure my running distance before (I always go by time and “feel”), now that I have a phone that measures distance, it’s bugging me how off that measurement is.
What should I use to calculate this distance? I don’t want to go find a running track to do this; I’d rather just use something in the neighborhood. What are some standard distances “out there?”

There is a running trial next to my school called the “puke trial”. I know the 2 mile mark so I’ve been able to run 2 miles to and from that location for a 4mile run. I want to run 6 miles today but I don’t know how to measure 6 miles unless I get a ruler and tediously match the key up to the winding, curving trial. I do have a pedometer but it doesn’t work, I know this because after I ran 4 miles it said I only ran .85 miles (this thing is so cheap!). Is there any kind of map that lets you place many points on it and then it measures the distance between each point and tells you how far it is?

Does anyone know what the distance is of the entire circumference of the Oxford University Park? I’ve tried looking on our website, I’ve tried multimap and G Pedometer Maps, but I cannot find anything that actually marks what the distance is!!!!
Does any one know, a member of the Oxford University Running Club might be a little bit too much to ask for on here, but you never know……….

I am training for the Los Angeles Marathon but i have no method of measuring how much i run. I run on my treadmill but it stopped transmitting data so now i just go by time. What is a good way to measure my distance.
Pedometers arent an option since they only work if you run at a consistent pace and consistent stride length and they end up changing when i get tired.

I seem to break pedometers or when I sweat, they quit working/fog up, etc. I’ve reviewed some watches online, but none seem to get raving reviews from people that purchased them. I definately want a watch (easy to wear while working out) and it needs to be able to track my actual distance, not just steps, and calories burned. If it can do my heart rate, that’d be a plus. Please HELP! I’m starting to train for my first half marathon and want to be able to track my workouts and progress successfully and accurately. THANKS!
