I’m 5′ 4 and 188 (I know) and trying unsucessfully to lose weight. My only thought is that I’m misunderstanding something. I’m wondering how to figure out how many calories I need to function then how many less I need to actually lose weight. I work out at least 3 times a week and judging by my pedometer I burn at least 500 -1000calories/day. I eat between 1200-1500 calories a day and have been doing this along w/taking ALLI and have still not lost any weight. I’ve never had this difficult of a time losing weight and I’ve been following this diet (minus the ALLI which I just started a week ago) for more than a month….any suggestions are appreciated. I’m tired of whining about this, but i’m super confused! I know the whole 3500 cal/lb of fat, I’m just wondering if I sit all day how many calories are burned vs working out…

Hi there. Im 13 years old, and i am wondering how many calories i should be having everyday and how many of those i should be burning off? Ive heard i should have about 1500, but that cant be right because that is about the equivilent of 1 and 1/2 DEEP FRYED MARS BARS!!! So how many calories should i be having each day? Plus, i have got a new pedometer and im wondering how many steps i should be doing each day?? (ive been doing about 15000 to 20000) Is this enough to burn off the calories i consume? (i dont eat an awful lot of junk food) And also, am i overweight? im about 165cm tall (pretty tall for a boy who has just turned 13) and i weigh about 63kg??
THANKS SO MUCH!!! =)

I work in nursing home, I keep track of how many steps I walk on a pedometer, today I cam home and it said, 11,198 steps. I’m just wondering how many calories I burned– walking at a moderate pace average. I am 5′6 and I weigh 151.4lbs.

Okay so I bike ride around my neighborhood regularly. My neighborhood has a LOT of hills so it is a bit of a work out. This week I had a lot of time on my hands so I decided to walk the way I usually ride. My pedometer read about 6.5 miles. It took me about 2 hours to conquer versus about 30 minutes on the bike. Since the walking is a lower endurance did I burn less calories? Or was it balanced out because I was active longer walking then biking? Also, my calves are really sore after walking that route twice this week and that never happens when I bike.

If I eat roughly 1700 calories per day, and walk 8 miles per day (my pedometer calculates this to burn roughly 900 calories) plus exercise intensely for an hour (burning roughly 600 calories) – am I eating enough?
I don’t feel hungry but I don’t understand how this can be right.
Neglecting my BMR for a second, this comes out to be 1700 – (600 + 900) = 200 calories intake.
Can someone please explain this to me?
