He’s completly stressed out work wise and doesn’t care about his health or exercise. He already has a congential heart defect that was corrected via surgery before he was a year old. He’s put on so much weight in the past 2 years or so and even wheezes if he walks too fast or tries to carry something heavy (our daughter for example). He says annually, before his cardiologist appointment, that his doctor is going to “kick his ***”, so he tries to cut back on eating and wants to take walks and such about 2 – 3 months before his annual appointment. Other than that, he just works and warms the couch on the weekends. He does play with our daughter at home on the weekends, but it’s difficult to get him to go out and do anything if it’s not previously planned. We had memberships to the gym of which was a waste of money as he could never get motivated to get there. I cook only what I think he’ll eat and then catch him in the ice cream or chips later. He, too, will say that he’ll go and get the milk only to come back about 20 minutes later having frosting on his breath from doughnuts or grabbing a burger at McDonald’s. Our daughter is only four. How can I get him serious about his health besides cooking only what we’ll eat, buying sugar-free or baked snacks, and trying to get him off the couch. We live in an apartment so buying a treadmill won’t work due to space and there’s no outside upkeep here to keep him in shape. Please HELP!
we live in philadelphia northeast section. he is a little over weight. he is willing to exercise and smokes occasionally. we know he has to quit smoking altogether. My main concern is his health coverage. does anyone has any advice for us?

Hi. I am almost 18, 5′3″ and 108 pounds. I wear a size 1-2 in jeans, but I am still sort of fat. I have a pot belly, and my boyfriend has even brought it up to me saying I would look better with a smaller stomach. I have suffered from an eating disorder for almost three years, and I’ve gained 10 agonizing pounds toward the sake of my health only and this is what becomes of it. I get a pot belly and my boyfriend negatively comments my body. I already have terrible self-image, and it just adds on to it. I want to firm my stomach and legs and lose a little bit of weight, around 5-7 pounds. Would that be dangerously unhealthy? I am just desperate to feel better, to feel more confident, and to look better. I am Asian and other Asian friends look at me like I am a “fat American.” Forgive me if this sounds like pitiful anorexic-media brainwash, but I feel so huge and ugly. I’ve been trying to heal emotionally from anorexia and every time I eat, self confidence is knocked down but I have to force myself to eat so I can maintain health. I exercise an hour a day, but nothing is happening and every time I look in the mirror, I want to cry. I do not want to gain weight, I do not want to go to therapy, I don’t want to get better, I guess is what I’m trying to say. I just wish I could be healthy AND look thin. Is there any way to do that at all?
So Monday afternoon I got this really bad headache, by Monday night I wanted someone to call an ambulance as I really felt like it was going to explode. I threw up and was disorientated, could barely speak and felt very very wrong. I’ve had this kind of headache before (only recently) but never this bad, it was actually very scary and I don’t scare easily really when it comes to my health.
I wandered perhaps if it was a migraine, I’ve never been diagnosed as having one before so couldn’t even say what a migraine felt like, but my housemate says he used to get them and he had a pulsing pain with it, where as mine is a constant throbbing, agonizing pain, and to be honest 2 days later I’m still feeling like there’s something go on in there, it’s still kind of uncomfortable.
I just wanted to know if this sounded like a migraine to anyone – or if anyone has a similar experience with headaches? I’m not overly light sensitive when I get the pain, which I did hear was a symptom of migraines. Also, with migraines, do they tend to linger for a few days afterwards? This is concerning me slightly.
If it continues I’ll go to the doctor, but I thought for now I could post here and get some other people’s experiences. I’m generally in very good health, I exercise regularly and eat healthily (Im a dancer), I do smoke but my general habits haven’t changed recently (I’m not smoking any more or any less etc).
Thanks for your comments.
