So Monday afternoon I got this really bad headache, by Monday night I wanted someone to call an ambulance as I really felt like it was going to explode. I threw up and was disorientated, could barely speak and felt very very wrong. I’ve had this kind of headache before (only recently) but never this bad, it was actually very scary and I don’t scare easily really when it comes to my health.
I wandered perhaps if it was a migraine, I’ve never been diagnosed as having one before so couldn’t even say what a migraine felt like, but my housemate says he used to get them and he had a pulsing pain with it, where as mine is a constant throbbing, agonizing pain, and to be honest 2 days later I’m still feeling like there’s something go on in there, it’s still kind of uncomfortable.
I just wanted to know if this sounded like a migraine to anyone – or if anyone has a similar experience with headaches? I’m not overly light sensitive when I get the pain, which I did hear was a symptom of migraines. Also, with migraines, do they tend to linger for a few days afterwards? This is concerning me slightly.
If it continues I’ll go to the doctor, but I thought for now I could post here and get some other people’s experiences. I’m generally in very good health, I exercise regularly and eat healthily (Im a dancer), I do smoke but my general habits haven’t changed recently (I’m not smoking any more or any less etc).
Thanks for your comments.

  • It could be migraine. My daughter gets hemiplegic migraine, during which her arm goes paralysed and she can’t speak. She takes propanolol which makes them much less frequent and much less severe. However, I would definitely go and see your doctor, because it could be something else, and you need to get the right treatment. If doctors find nothing wrong, it’s worth seeing a chiropractor, because trapped nerves in your neck can cause head pain.

  • Try to take motrin, You can take up to 800 mg every 8 hours, do not take more than that.

Ah you poor thing. That is horrible!! I get migraines (got them from my mom :-/) and there are different kinds of migraines. I different ones. Sometimes it’s like pulsing but most of the time it feels like a hard throbbing, banging in my head. I get so weak and nauseous. It’s horrible. Usually if I run out of my medicine from the Dr.’s I go and buy Excederine extra strength (don’t know if you get it there in the UK) but in about 20-30 minutes it hides it so it’s still there but not as strong. You should go see a dr though, because youre gonna keep getting them and they are horrible. I feel for you. Good luck!
