A pedometer does it really work? Like if I walk 12,000 steps a day will I lose weight? Or what? Will I lose any weight walking 10,000 steps a day? I bought one last night (: I’m trying to lose 19 pounds, the healthy way so within about 5 months. I also am working out, I am out of shape so I’m starting slow, like 4 sets of 10 reps of push ups, sit ups, lunges, squats.. and then doing like dance for 15 minutes then setting goals like for 1 more set, or 10 more minutes. Eating every 2-3 hours, no fat, sugar, soda, candy. Calorie counting. Does that sound like a good enough plan?

I’m not a nutritionist or trainer, but that sounds like a good plan. Water, vegetables and fruits are going to be very helpful to you. I like drinking V8 because I know I don’t eat enough veggies. And don’t be so afraid of carbohydrates like the rest of these idiots. As long as you’re exercising regularly and not eating any high carb foods before you go to bed, carbs are really good for you. Good luck and keep your eyes on the prize.

If it works for your lifestyle then, yes.

Sounds like a great plan. But remember you’ll have to keep pushing the cardio to continue to lose weight. At some point you’ll need to start running or some kind of other more high tempo cardio to continue towards your goal.

You could lose weight on this plan. Make sure you eat no more than 1800 calories a day and get at least 15000 steps a day (to account for accidental counts from bouncing in a vehicle, standing, etc).

It sounds good and your goal is very realistic. Increasing activity and decreasing the amount of unhealthy foods is the way for weightloss.
I recnetly lost 30 pounds – it took 6 months but I got there and have kept it all off (a few pounds seem to come back occasionally and I lose them again). What I learned is
if you quit everything bad and try and add everything healthy all at once you will get frustrated and may not stick with it. If you are a sugar junkie cutting it all out at once can actually make you feel awful.
Try adding one or two habits a week. (or modifying a behavior).
For example if you are a soda addict then week one try to focus on having only One can a day (after a two weeks your new habit could be no soda) . Or if you notice you always have candy bar at 3:00 try making your goal to have a piece of fruit at that time instead .
And the number one key in losing weight is DRINKING WATER – drink about 8 glasses a day. Besides several health beneifts it also helps you to feel full. And if you are adding exercise you will need it.
Remember small amounts of fat and natural sugars are okay……and if you eat something bad or have a bad day your weightloss is not ruined you just have to start again at the very next meal So say you end up getting french fries at lunch – or you know you are going to a birthday party that evening that involves yummy cake – that is okay as long as you remember at dinner – you already have a high calorie or high fat snack that day – fill up on the veggies and plan for lower claorie foods for the rest of the day and tommorrow too.
As to the pedometer I have had varied results with one… try using it for a few days of your current lifestyle to see what your current number of steps then try to increase that by 10% or 15% every day.

WOW… I say, your going to lose it very quickly! Seems as if you are pushing yourself. But if its that motivation you need to get back in shape, then you go ahead and do it all as you have set out to do. Dont give up if you forget to do one rep one day or if you eat some thing sweet. Just continue the next day as you normally would!!! GOOD LUCK!!! and GREAT JOB!!! I think we all need to be as motivated as you! Hmmm I think you are motiviating me to want to start this diet, work out… thanks!
    Good LUCK!
By the way, pedometers really do work. They motivate you to walk that extra mile to get your steps. Walking is the best exercise any one can do. So if you do walk 12,000 steps a day you are bond to lose weight because most people only need 10,000 steps to lose weight!!! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!

Good job getting fit! Your plan sounds very good–healthy and sensible. Yes, pedometers work, and they are a wonderful way to keep track of your walks! 10,000 steps should be about 5 miles, and every additional 2,000 will be a mile more. I think the exercises that you are doing for the rest of your body will be great too. Over time, you will see little changes if you keep at it (smoother and leaner), and eventually, these will add up to very noticeable changes. Just to give you an idea, after I had my daughter I walked just five miles a day five days a week. I was able to take of 35 pounds in two months (doing nothing else but a good diet). So, I actually think that if you are able to do it daily you will be looking at more like 6 weeks to take off your weight. Best of luck!!
