So I’m a beginning runner trying to train for a 5K. I’ve done a lot of research on creating a training plan etc. and I’m not looking for advice on that front. What I do need help with is keeping track of my time.
I hate wearing a watch because I have very sensitive skin on my wrist and in the past I have had horrible outbreaks of eczema and watches have given me extreme heat rashes.
I’m wondering if there is another way to keep track of time, maybe a running play-list that changes song every minute or beeps every minute. Maybe a pedometer that also has a stop watch – ideally one that attaches at the waist.
Suggestions?

try carrying a clock around ur neck..lol just joking
I don’t see any possible way…
what about putting the watch around ur neck!!!
Could you put your watch over a sweatband? Or find a small stopwatch and put it around your neck? Or put on some cortizone cream before you run. Or replace the watchband with a shoelace?
You could fashion a portable sundial out of materials that will not cause you to be such a wuss.
Take the wrist band off your watch and pin the watch onto your shorts.
I have a playlist. Try that.
God luck

just time yourself once with a watch and go all out
try base that on your jogs later on
Online, you can find a website that, at a cost, gives you music to download onto your Mp3 player or iPod that goes in time to your steps. It’s expensive though, and I’m not sure exactly what website it is but I’m sure if you google it then it’ll come up. You could try that, since you can clip your iPod to your waist. It also gives you a timer, and the songs are as long as you want them to be. Say you want to run for 20 minutes, the program will put together songs that will last exactly 20 minutes.
The nike + iPod censor takes splits and tells you your pace and such as well as records distance. If you have an iPod it is only 30 dollars for the equipment and then maybe 15 more for a “pouch” to attach to your shoe that can hold the censor.
Maybe if you cut the watch band off of the watch and simply held the face of the watch or put the watch in your pocket that would work??
I personally hate wearing a watch too so I only do it for my runs. Try just wearing it for practice and then taking it off too maybe.
But if you want a good solution, the Nike + iPod keeps track of your pace, time, distance, calories burned (not sure how accurate that is), and some other things I think. That might be a good thing to look into.
