This has been going on my whole life, that’s why I never played sports. Never really put much thought into it until now. I’m physically unfit and its causing health problems, so I want to be doing cardio regularly.

    Exercise headaches have no underlying cause other than exertion. Headaches triggered by any form of exercise are known as exertional or exercise headaches. Strenuous activities such as running and lifting weights are common culprits.
    Exercise and Headache
    Muscles may become over-tense when you are feeling stressed or anxious. In this state muscle fibres are stimulated by sympathetic messages from the brain.
    Generally the purpose of this is to prepare the body for fight or flight from danger.
    End exercise induced headache
    Exercise induced headache can arrive on your doorstep for a number of reasons. First, it’s important to note that it could be a sign of something very serious.
    Avoiding after exercise headache
    There are a number of things that can cause after exercise headache. Talk to your doctor about the various preventative medications that may be right for you. This is for you especially if you’re getting migraine symptoms a few times a month.
    Muscular Pain and Headache during Exercise
    Muscular stiffness and pain may also occur when the same posture is maintained for too long, for example bending over a piece of work or leaning the head back to look up. This causes pain due to vaso-constriction, ischaemia and a build-up of waste products (such as lactic acid) from muscle contraction. Pain breeds spasm – muscles around the area contract to protect it. If this occurs in shoulder muscles (a common postural problem) pain may spread to the back of the head – a typical tension headache.
    Some common treatments
    The International Headache Society has written about two overlapping types of headache, known as primary cough headache and primary exertion headache. These are often treated with indomethecin (Indocin), an anti-inflammatory medication. Ergotamine Tartrate has been reported as helpful by some patients.
    Ways to stop exercise induced headache
    Avoid exercise that involved prolonged stooping.
    Lower impact, more stretching. If tennis is causing a problem, try swimming instead, for example.
    If you’re just starting an exercise program, don’t start with something intensive. You may want to try something as simple as a daily brisk walk, and then move on once your body is used to it.

    well the medical reason is as follow:
    when you exercise you body uses Adeninetriphosphate (ATP) to power your cells. Well this requires lots of oxygen. This lack of oxygen causes the burning sensation in your muscles because there is nothing to dissolve the lactic acid in your body.This oxygen however, is also needed in the brain, this is why we yawn-to get oxygen to the brain, so if your body is unused to workouts, it will have much more energy in fat storage which is like a slowly used supply of extra energy but it wont be immediately available to the body so more of the O2 deprivation occurs until you get a headache. if you wish to prevent this, try beginning with small work outs to get you ready for the main workout and then wind down with workouts this ways your body slowly accelerates to peak performance and slowly goes back down. DOn’t forget plenty of fluids.hope this helps.
    P.S. you may have athsma or another repiratory issue.

    I would guess you are dehydrated. Make sure you are drinking enough before you workout and during, avoid soda and especially alcohol if you know you are going to do a big workout. Some people need a small meal before exercise – nothing major, maybe a banana an hour before.

    Hi Onamissi, I think you may be a little dehydrated when you exercise. Try to drink fluids like gatorade with some supplements in it. Also there is a supplement called le’vive I drink this daily and it replaces some of the nurtrients that my body needs, also it gives me the get up and go that I need.     have you had a health check from your doctor due to this? it could be due to blood pressure, dehydration and a lot of other causes. consult a doctor

    ur unused to that rate of exercise, start of slow or it will get worse :)
