I am looking to lose weight over the next 5 months, as well as get fit and build endurance. I am 19 and weigh around 14 stone.
I plan to get gym membership and spend from 10am – 4pm in the gym from monday to saturday.
Would it be hazardous to my health to exercise for these prolonged periods of time, and doing so on a daily basis?

ummm…
hmmmmmm
thats 7 hour at the gym?
just making sure you relize that
it would be hazardous to workout for 7 hours straight you need to eat if you want to lose any weight and gain muscle
try 10-1
Depending on how much you eat, it may be hazardous to your health.
However, it WILL be hazardous to your PROGRESS. You’re wanting to overwork and exhaust your body, and think that’ll somehow build a fantastic physique? Try again. You’ll be drained, sluggish, and you’ll look and feel like sh*t. Your body needs rest and recovery, not a constant barrage of insanity.
There’s nothing wrong with working out daily, not as long as you aren’t over training your system. Working out 6 days a week for 6 hours each day will certainly over train your system. This is not the way to see progress. Muscle mass is expensive for your body to maintain, and with all this over training, it’ll be the first thing to go because your body will want to consume calories. That’s right…muscle goes first, not fat. Over training puts you in a catabolic state (muscle breakdown, not build-up), and your body will consume it for calories. This leaves you weaker and flabbier. Not a good choice.
I lost about 100lbs in about 10 months. I did exercise a lot, about 12-17 times per week. But it was different kinds of training. I didn’t just sit there for hours at a time. I broke it up throughout the day and because of that, I saw results. I gave my muscles time to rest, and I challenged them as well.
yes. nobody needs to spend 6 hours a day working out. i could see if you were an athlete training for an event. but you’re not.
doing too much, too soon will hurt you. you’ll get discouraged. try starting out with just 1 hour a day. you also need rest days for your body to recover. no recovery time=injuries.
especially when weight lifting, you need to give those muscles 1-2 days rest in order to heal. do you know how muscle and endurance is built? when you work out, you’re actually making small tears in the muscles you’re working. in order to become stronger and for the muscles to grow, they need to heal before you work them again.
thats waaaaaaaaay too long in the gym
30-40 mins for cardio
and 40-50 mins lifting weights
cardio is good everyday, i’m not sure with weights though
Hope this helps
take care
