I am 67 years old and in pretty good health. I am looking for a good cardio exercise to keep fit and perhaps lose a little weight in the meantime.

Same as for under 60. You may not be able to go quite as hard or as fast, but so what?
Swim, bike, run, walk, row, x-country ski…..
Fast walking, cycling, swimming. All good for physical and mental health. 30 minutes/day. Compliment with 30 minutes of upper body workout, ie, lifting or isometrics. If convenient, a gym would be best for the latter, under the supervision of a coach, both for the technical aspects as well as the social.
Good luck.
Funny you should ask… I’m in nursing school and we just had a question like this on our test. The answer was DANCING!
It’s considered a moderate/ cardio energy activity. Find a class that you can take like at a community college. My community college actually has PE classes like that just for older people. Hope this helps!
Cycling is perfect, you can go at any pace and still look after your joints. I’m only 20 but a few bad tackles playing rugby means my right knee clicks when I go running so I cycle instead. You can go further aswell so you don’t have to stick to the same old route and scene like people do when running or swimming.
Everybody is different so don’t go to buy the next “big diet” that they throw out on the market. There is a website on the internet where they actually have a weight loss expert record a CD specifically for you! I heard people are getting Great results! They send you a questionaire and ask that you fill it out as honestly as possible, then they get to work! Its like having your very own personal trainer in your CD player! check it out and I hope that it helps! http://www.PersonalizedWeightLoss.net
My grandma is about that age and she has diabetes. She actually does situps (sorry that just surprises me) and she walks in the morning and at night. Walking at a faster pace than normal will actually help you lose wieght and it’s not hard on your joints.
walking for at least 20 minutes at a pace that does not make you winded but increases the speed of your breathing a bit…do that 3 to 5 time a week. Walking is fantastic for you and keeps the joints in great shape too!
I would say swimming b/c it’s so much easier on the joints. But then when you get older, you need to keep your bones dense, so a weight bearing exercise like walking is good.
You might find a program here that works for you.http://www.beachbody.com/home.do
I lost 80lbs with the P90x (intense though)
I am same age as you. Walk steadily 20-30 minutes daily but EVERYDAY. Get your mind healthy, that will help. How much weight do you want to lose & why?
Pretend your zimma frame is a partner and salsa baby yeh!!!
